Altman A-D2 Cocobolo Rosewood 1937 Model
New - Built to 1936-1938 specifications entirely by hand, Adirondack Spruce top, forward shifted scalloped Adirondack braces, no tongue brace, 1 ¾’’ bone nut width, Ebony traditional bridge and fingerboard, original style Herringbone top trim, solid bone bridge pins with red-eye inlay, beautiful orange-brownish colored Cocobolo back & sides, Honduran Mahogany neck, thru saddle, Tortoise grain pickguard, traditional style rosette, original style fingerboard inlay, Waverly “Relic” Butterbean tuners, “antiqued” top aging toner, 2 5/16’’ string spacing and varnish finish. Here is another example of pure vintage tone but with extreme power and balance. Responds instantly with every note and every register is crystal clear. Recently at SPBGMA, these guitars were compared side with a couple of pre-war instruments and the results was that the tone was as close to the pre-wars has ever heard but the Altman was more powerful. Big booming low end, punchy direct midrange and bell ringing high end with no muddy clutter and metallic overtones. If you don't like mid 30's old, dry, fat, open woody sound, then don't play this guitar as that is what you are going to get. Priced with deluxe hard case.Product ID:910
Collings CW Cocobolo
New - Beautiful quartered straight grain brick red Cocobolo Rosewood back & sides with the sides having a half-tone even look with plenty of black streaking everywhere. Very close in appearance to BRW but more importantly, it very closely sounds much like past Collings BRW we have had. People who saw and played this outrageous box, thought it was Brazilian. This is a complete sounding Collings with tremendous power, but also contains a warmth and dryness that delivers a special overall sound that really fills the room. In our opinion, we find this to be a "special" Winfield model. This also has an absolute fabulous Adirondack top with medium wide grain that stretches the whole top and inclusive Adirondack braces, no tongue brace, enlarged soundhole, 1 23/32'' nut width, bound Ebony fingerboard with no inlay, traditional Ebony bridge, thru saddle, Waverly "Butterbean" tuners, Herringbone top trim, Ebony peghead overlay and for more of a traditional look, this one has a Tortoise grain pickguard. For those looking for something more complete that a IRW, with power, warmth, balance and response, then this may be the instrument as we find this one a little "special." Priced with deluxe hard case.Product ID:909
